Brand Identity: Snooty Snacks

Snooty Snacks was a project based on designing packaging for a made-up kettle chip company. Luckily there was a personal project based on snack items that fit the requirements. ‘Snooty Snacks,’ was already established and would focus on a kettle chip brand that would be marketed to the artsy foodie, with a sense of humor. The packaging design was influenced by Art Deco designs, and the chips themselves were to be made with organic and simple ingredients, which would feature three different flavors, Himalayan Salt, Zesty Cheddar, and Spicy Lime.

For the design inspiration, there was a heavy influence of art deco as well as popular brand kettle chips such as Kettle Brand, Hawaiian, and Pirates Booty. The snack chips were designed to be sold in active popular areas such as LA-based museums like LACMA and the Griffith Park Observatory. Also, they could possibly be sold in small independent art house movie theaters like the Laemmle and organic grocery stores, like Trader Joe’s, or Sprouts. Above is the final chip layout and to the right is the full logo process. The first logo on the top began with a character made in a graphic arts class in 2018 where the project was to make a logo, and at the time there were many animators in the course, so there was an influence of character design. Over time the Snooty Snack brand was still an idea that continued to grow, and there was again another opportunity to expand on the idea with this packaging study. The project took a full month’s work and the final designs were received positively.

Project executed with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
