Web Design: Peck Road Water Conservation Park
The following project involved a redesign of a local park website that was located either in our city or a park of our choosing. The best candidate was the Peck Road Water Conservation Park located in El Monte, CA. The park had a city-related website, but it lacked information on what the park offered as well as current professional pictures of the park’s wildlife and grounds. The plan for the site focused on the park’s history and all the changes in through throughout the years that involved efforts of the community, and its contributions to the local wildlife.
The requirements for the site asked for a minimum of five screens, but the park needed seven to look complete. New photos of the park had to be taken both using a digital and phone camera. Also to complete a well-functioning website, the project asked to conduct research requiring personas as to who would be visiting the park, and how they would use it. The following pages are dedicated to the layout and design choices for the site. Featured is the first site map as well as the wireframe for the beginning stages of the park’s early web design. Also the color palette and the chosen typeface that is featured on the site.
Project executed with Canon DSLR, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop.
